Cascade Films
is a Melbourne based production company owned by film makers Nadia Tass and David
Parker. Since its inception in 1983, Cascade Films has produced a series of acclaimed
feature films, starting with MALCOLM in 1985. Malcolm won 8 Australian Film Institute
awards including Best Picture, Best Script and Best Director. This was followed
by RIKKY & PETE for United Artists, THE BIG STEAL (9 Australian Film Institute
nominations), MR RELIABLE (Nominated Best Picture AFI) for Polygram Filmed Entertainment,
PURE LUCK for Universal Studios, and AMY for Beyond/Village Roadshow. Amy has
won 23 international awards including the 1998 Peoples Choice Award and
Best Film, Grand Prix Cannes Junior and the Le Prix Education Nationale at the
Cannes Film Festival in 1999. Cascade Films also produced STARK a 3 part mini-series
for the BBC.
More
recently they have directed and shot Walt Disney TV Movies Of The Week "The
Miracle Worker" and "Child Star. The Miracle Worker was the third top
rating movie on Network TV last year in the U.S. CHILD STAR was shot in Australia
with Melbourne doubling for 1930s Los Angeles. Nadia
Tass & David Parker also own and operate the Melbourne Film Studio, a complex
including a world standard sound stage and an office block comprising production
offices and permanent industry related tenants ranging from film & tv producers,
post production facilities, talent agents, music producers and casting agents. Feature
productions that have been through the Melbourne Film Studio include The Man From
Snowy River, Muriels Wedding, Stark, Thin Red Line, Shine, Lightning Jack,
Noahs Ark, Death in Brunswick, Moby Dick, Hercules Returns, Proof, Diana
